Watercolour Workshops - September to November 2024

These workshops are suitable for beginners, or those with a little experience. Everyone is welcome including children over 12 (accompanied by a paying adult).

We aim to have fun whilst we learn. No drawing skills are necessary as templates are provided. We go through everything step by step. Classes will consist of a 12 or less people, so everyone will get plenty of feedback and guidance. 

All materials are provided. We also provide a list of materials and worksheets so you can practice at home.

Each workshop is £40 with discounts for multiple bookings. Full details at the bottom of this page.

Workshop #1: Wild flowers Saturday 21st September 10am-1pm SOLD OUT

We are going to create loose wild flower paintings using masking fluid, stipple brushes, splatter, spray and opaque gouache paint. All paintings will fit into a standard frame.

Workshop #2: York Landmarks Saturday 5th October 10am-1pm

We will be learning how to transfer a basic outline to our drawing paper using a template, then ink in the linework. Finally we will add watercolour to produce paintings of some of York's beautiful landmarks.

Workshop #3: Yorkshire Coast views Saturday 19th October 10am-1pm SOLD OUT

This lesson will follow the same steps as above, but this time we will be painting some of the Yorkshire Coast's famous views.

Workshop # 4: Trees - Four Seasons Saturday 2nd November 10am-1pm SOLD OUT

We will be learning this simple technique for painting trees. This can be applied to most species of trees found in British landscapes. We will be painting a generic tree, then creating a version for each of the four seasons.

Workshop #5: Stained Glass - Nativity Saturday 16th November 10am-1pm

Paintings in the style of stained glass windows, using fine liners and watercolour. With templates depicting Nativity scenes, it's a simple case of tracing and filling in the shapes. Guided step-by-step, by 'yours truly'.

Each painting can be attached to a blank Greetings Card or placed in a standard size frame.

Workshop #6: Polar Christmas Characters Saturday 30th November 10am-1pm

It's a while since we've had a White Christmas so we've been to the ice caps to find our snowy characters for this year's Christmas Cards! We found a Polar Bear, a Reindeer and managed to p-p-pick up a couple of Penguins. Blank cards and envelopes are provided.
