Part landmark, part escape, the Pier invites quiet reflection and bracing strolls.

Saltburn Pier, built in 1869, is Yorkshire’s last surviving pleasure pier—a slender Victorian walkway stretching over 200 metres into the North Sea. Its cast-iron supports and wooden deck have been carefully restored, offering sweeping coastal views.

Above the pier is one of the world’s oldest water-powered cliff lifts which links the town to the beach below. Brightly painted shelters, red cliffs, and the sound of gulls frame the scene.

Beloved by locals and visitors alike, the pier remains a place for sea air, quiet reflection, and a glimpse into Saltburn’s enduring seaside heritage.
